Pin Cushion

Dryer Lint Pin Cushion

Mastering the craft of sewing is something I'm still working on. Surprisingly, the sewing machine and I have bonded well. Anywho, I didn't think I would need a pin cushion since I've been using the container that the pins came in. But after stabbing myself more than once trying to get pins, I've decided it was time for a pin cushion.

After doing laundry a few days ago & cleaning out the dryer lint, an idea lit up in my head! When I rolled up the lint to throw away, I thought what a great material to use as a cushion for the pin cushion I've been needing.

First, I gathered some dryer lint that had accumulated from the dryer & found some thrown out in the trash can by the washer/dryer.

Then, I used a piece of fabric from the extra scraps that I had & covered the dryer lint. I tied a piece of ribbon to hold the fabric together. I used a small candle lid that I just so happen to have, as a base.

All I did was hot glue the inside of the candle lid & inserted the tied end of the pin cushion. And there's my very own pin cushion! Easy & inexpensive. I'm all about recycling!
